Hotel Sky with a Baby
When Hotel Sky first opened its doors in November 2022, we decided to pay the reasonable rate of R799 per night and visit the hotel. We are the type of people who choose to visit hotels on random weekends in the year just so we can have a break from reality. We started taking Ilham with us as many places are family-friendly. Ilham was much smaller so we could have a cot in the room. The room isn't spacious at all with balls that roll out of the bed never being able to come out. The area in front of the shower where the coat hanger and the basin is is also not that spacious. In terms of being fit for a family, the room was not that practical. The television initially didn't work but this was quickly fixed by the helpful staff who graciously moved us to an alternate room. With new hotels, these hiccups are expected and we were understanding of this fact. The robots which are the main pull towards this hotel were also not working but its those new hotel setbacks that are expected. The main attraction for me had to be the coffee stations located outside every floor. You can also get boiling water or warm milk from these machines (bottomless) and this is a serious plus especially when staying at a hotel with children.
Another perk is that there is a high chair at the restaurant so breakfast goes well too.
While our first experience staying at Hotel Sky in Johannesburg was noteworthy, our secret experience was certainly something to rave about. December holidays called and Hotel Sky along with Lift Airlines had a special which we couldn't resist. We stayed for five days at the Cape Town Hotel Sky. We were given a bigger room than the first time with two double beds. Ilham by this time could fit in our bed. While space is still rather cramped, the room did prove to be bigger and allowed for far more movement. You might bump an elbow in the television from time to time. Babies and younger children who require much space do feel slightly claustrophobic in these rooms. However, the robots that the kids adore in the lobby are worth staying in this hotel. The pool is also excellent for children with the most amazing views. Again, the coffee machines on each floor make the holiday well worth it. The lifts were rather slow so this can be frustrating with kids but overall any stay is what you make of it.
If you have no complaints..., you are probably not traveling with children....
