Mary Anning's Grewsome Beasts- Deshan Tennekoon and Linki Brand

What am I reading? Well, a kiddies delight novel. An autobiography depicted in a whole new light...

I simply can't understand why the new generation prefers the Ipad and tablet to a good old-fashioned (but still in fashion) book. With such an exciting book as, "Mary Anning's Grewsome Beasts," you can't help but love reading again. Discover a reason to get your child to learn about fossils and discoveries while your child journeys to the past in a book that's true but illustrated beautifully and in such a fun way! The cover that pops open screams fun!

The story is based on a lady scientist-Mary Anning. Yes! A LADY SCIENTIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This scientist had studied fossils and this book takes readers on a journey to read all about these fossils and the discovery of various beasts. Take this journey (mice on toast) and all...

"It is not easy to tell the story of someone as brain-bogglingly brilliant as Mary Anning."

The quote at the beginning of the book was right, her story is certainly impressive. The story takes it back over 200 years ago and allows the reader to imagine the olden days. There are plenty of jokes to make you laugh ("a man's mustache looked as if a semi-dead squirrel had been nailed to his lips"). We meet Mary at 11 and hear all about her woes and then we are back to fun until Mary eventually gets cancer and pain grows again.

It is the best possible

way to capture a biography, also if you wondered why Grewsome is not spelled as gruesome, you'd want to read this one...
