Hello Home Spa With Apex Organic Living
It's Sunday night and you would think that I'm relaxed having had a weekend break. The truth is that weekends for me means tutoring Shakespeare, getting online content ready for the online classes, babysitting, and preparing a schedule for the week ahead. I also managed to go rug shopping this weekend and attended a virtual play for the blog so I am drained. Therefore when I settled down at 8pm to write this post and Ilham cried for sleep time, I knew I was in need of a hot, steamy bath with a wonderful bath bomb once she was asleep. Then I remembered Charndre from Apex Organic Living who is part of a duo that has created a product range to make us feel like we are relaxing at a spa despite being home. I loved her vision and couldn't wait to share the brains behind this venture.
What motivated you to start your venture/business?
Apex organic living began humbly with a discussion around skincare as myself and my business partner (who is already learned and involved in the beauty industry) have had many issues with a variety of skincare products, especially regarding products used during bath time. From that Apex Organic living grew. We decided that it was necessary to create products that were organically sourced in all areas from dye right up until the boxes. It is important to us that our product reflects our desire to create a 100% natural and biodegradable product. We also aim to help soothe skin conditions through natural oils and products. These skin conditions include dry or flaky skin, eczema, itchy skin, and so on.
What have you learnt on your journey?
During this journey, the biggest lesson that we have learnt is that sourcing natural products are not as easy as one would think. Yes, buying coconut oil is an easy task but finding coconut oil that has been naturally sourced, without harm to the environment as well as animals is not so easy. We also found it is necessary to seek these alternative products as they change the output of the product Another important lesson was that we could only grow by helping other small businesses. We have built wonderful and hopefully, long-lasting relationships with a variety of small businesses that have helped with advertising, product finding, and so forth – we grow by helping others grow.
What inspires you?
I think our biggest inspiration is "vacation time". We had this vision about how vacations make us feel and we have tried to translate that feeling into every bath bomb. We would like each of our customers to feel as though they have booked themselves into a 5-star spa and hotel in the Maldives while enjoying the aromatic nuances of our products albeit in the comfort of their homes during this lockdown and far beyond.
