Birds of Prey-Empire Entertainment

Boxes of popcorn and cokes neatly piled on a table alongside the entrance to the eagerly anticipated chick-flick, "Birds of Prey" is my first memory of the night that Empire Entertainment opened their doors to media houses and PR. I had, like millions of others flocked to the cinema to see "Joker" for the fun of it. I was equally as devoted to seeing Harley shine in her own spotlight. at the Monte Casino @movies.  The mood here was slightly different. We were here to give our comments on the movie in an attempt to persuade the public to watch it or to avoid falling prey to rubbish content.

Harley Quinn, being the protagonist, surely did steal the show. As per her comic book character, she is an eclectic mix of crazy and crafty. Although the tale spoke of her emancipation from her beloved dominating Joker, the inner message spoke of the emancipation of all the women from psychotic lovers and male controlling figures. This idea of female freedom was also depicted by the beautiful songbird, "The Black Canary".  The entire film revolved around women fighting male villains such as the narcissistic Roman Sionis and his sidekick, Zsasz, and women defending other women. Since I am not allowed (media contract) to give too much away, I'll leave it at this, the tale is told by Harley herself in a crazy Harley like manner equalling great entertainment and a few laughs.

Should you flock to the cinema to catch the birds?
Yes, certainly.

Are women depicted as kick-ass and sassy?
Definitely yes!

Why catch the bird?
Like all comic book-inspired films, you simply cannot miss it. The hype they create is enough to drag you (high heels and all) to watch it. Plus you realize the inner strength of all women. When placed in hot water like a tea bag, we women blossom, and the more you press our buttons the stronger we become.

Plus going to the cinema to catch this movie may mean a little time off from mum duties. Ask granny to see to baby for a while. The help is always appreciated. As a mum, you must never feel afraid to ask for help.
