Burt'sBees in South Africa

We welcomed Burt's Bees in style on Thursday 14th March for a high tea that involved discussing brand philosophy and the Burt brains behind Burt's bees. The launch of an overseas favourite brand which South Africa would soon be embracing too took place at Rosa, Tsogo Sun in the heart of Monte Casino. All the elite bloggers, media personnel and magazine writers were entertained by the team of Burt's Bees whose natural approach to story telling made for a delightful event. The ambiance was one set by the buffet of macarons, tarts and custard slices that complimented the delicious high tea which also had as natural a feel to it as the message evoked by the brand.  A honey infused mocktail was served at the venue's entrance and undoubtedly honey was the order of the day.

The theme of the high tea was "Be A True Force of Nature" and this was surely a positive message offered by a brand that evokes the idea that natural products work the best and smell the greatest. The brand's spokespersons all had a recollection of tales to tell about the brand and it felt refreshing knowing the brand was as natural as it gets...

Tracing the history of Burt's Classic Lip Balm:

A wake up call for dehydrated lips comes freshly infused with a burst of Peppermint Oil. The must-have Beeswax Moisturizing Lip Balm has graced purses and pockets since 1991 and beeswax continues to condition lips while antioxidant-rich Vitamin E nourishes the lips as well.
 The result?
Smooth, supple lips that everyone will be buzzing about.

The natural approach

As per the brand's unique perspective, the team believe the best products come from nature. The way the team sources their ingredients, to the recycled content of their packaging, and the fact that all products have never been tested on animals – each one of their  products are consciously-crafted to bring out the best in people and of people while still taking heed of and  respecting the planet.

The historical tale of Burt's Bees
It was a wild idea at the time. A beekeeper and an artist left city life to live closer to nature in the wilds of Maine, USA and through a serendipitous meeting, and a little leftover beeswax, Burt’s Bees® was born. It was all based on the belief that nature has the best answers.  Also it was based on the idea that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something. The earth-loving brand offers a natural healthier solution for beauty care products keeping the Greater Good in mind. All products are paraben, pthalates, petrolatum and SLS free. None of the products undergo animal testing.

The natural delectable smell of the Burt's Bees range was a driving force for me. I enjoyed catching whiffs of the wipes, lotions and even the lip balms. All attendees received a honey jar filled with fresh goodies to test.

My tinted Burt's bees balm is a staple lip tint that follows me everywhere. I enjoy that the tint shines and colours my lips without attracting too much attention to the lips. I love the effect of bees wax that graces my dry lips and quenches its need for hydration and moisture.

Speaking of tea and honey, I stumbled upon the realization that you might be honey-sweet but you still won't be everyone's cup of tea. Therefore instead of trying to fit in and make yourself someone's cup of tea, accept the fact that you not. Not everyone in this world can enjoy the finer things in life like tea and that's perfectly okay. Don't change in hope that someone will love you because if you didn't tickle their tastebuds at first you never will. Be natural and be you!
