Eye Candy- The brow service for ladies on the go

When the chance to collaborate with Eye Candy came about towards the end of 2018, I immediately grabbed it! I know that your brows make or break you, needless to say, my bushy brow is always tamed. Since getting married and pursuing one too many working ventures, I rarely would find the time to get my brows done and working with Eye Candy meant having the needed reminder that it was time to groom.

The relationship for a collaborative blogging endeavor was brewed at Doppio Zero over a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

Eye Candy started off in 2009 in Cape Town and has grown into one of the largest networks of brow bars in South Africa. The Eye Candy bars that were initially based inside Woolworths are now stand alone kiosks and stores. Cape Town has a larger store whilst the Eye Candy Bar in the heart of Sandton is a petite kiosk that can accommodate about three or four ladies at a time.

Being a JHB based blogger, my preferred Eye Candy store is, of course, the Sandton City kiosk located just outside of Edgars and Mac on the upper floor.

I was not one for threading my unruly brows as I preferred the quickness and ease that came with waxing. From the Eye Candy brand, I learnt a little more about threading and why it should be a method of choice. Firstly threading is the ancient art of grooming that has been in existence for centuries. It remains a technique favored in Asia, Middle East as well as North Africa. Threading is also a simple, non-invasive technique that makes use of just the fingers and a thread of cotton. It also works to get even the tiniest of hairs and allows the hair to grow back finner. Upon hearing this I was sold and assigned to my designated brow therapist Alice.

Who is Eye Candy Bar for?
Ladies on the go. You can decide you want to pop in for a quick consult and treatment in between shopping and leave feeling better about yourself. You don't necessarily need to book your appointment months in advance, deciding on the day works too.

Why Eye Candy?
They promote the call to "love your shape". Confidently embracing the natural beauty within. I especially loved the way the beautiful ladies in their deep purple uniforms catered to client's needs meeting their every whim and desire. If the client requested an arched brow and it suited her that is exactly what the Eye Candy team gave her,

Why else visit Eye Candy?
Because of the broad smile you end up leaving with. Every single lady left the bar feeling better about themselves and didn't feel like they wasted one too many precious moments on a service that was needed but wasn't worth too long a wait.

My Experience:
My appointment was set in advance so I knew I would waltz in and out of the brow bar in minutes. Alice my therapist was prompt and already waiting for me. At one glance at my needy brows, she knew exactly what shape would look most natural and what would work best for my face shape whilst giving me the under brow clean-up that I needed. I sat comfortably on the chair as Alice tended to my brows. I did shed a tear or two during the threading process but only because my eyes are super sensitive. There was no pain associated with the clean whatsoever. I would call it first-class treatment at its best.  I remained unphased by the fact that I was getting my brows done in a kiosk with millions of passerby shoppers. The other two ladies who were at the bar quite enjoyed their treatments as well. They both were comfortable in the posh lilac seats also having the ladies in purple tending to their brows. Once the treatment was complete and I was satisfied, Alice applied a touch of soothing serum, tended to my teardrop with a tissue and that was it. A brow treatment extraordinaire!

I left the brow bar with an added sense of confidence, feeling taken care of and happy. You will have a similar experience if you too venture into Eye Candy. It is still a luxurious set up albeit in a kiosk and the chairs are super laid back and comfortable.

Cost of eyebrow treatment: R120
