Star Life -Stars shine within your home

I recently updated the blog page to align with the look and feel of  the name "Dramatic Dollhouse" (hope you like it) . I was rather stunned to notice that my chosen theme of a house resembled the flat that Naby and I have began to call "our home". Things I realize from our home is that every day can be warm, comfy and fuzzy just how we like it as long as we continue being happy, we'll have a happy home. Speaking of home; back at mum's home (before I got married) we would all gather in front of the TV screen every week night from 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm watching our favourite Indian soapies on Star Plus.  So when MS Publicity sent the invite for the launch of the new Star Life channel, I immediately jumped at the chance to attend. I messaged Aari and within seconds we made plans to change our boring Thursday afternoon into a media extravaganza.

After a busy work day, we headed against the traffic to Sandton City where the Star Life channel launch was being held.

We arrived at the Michelangelo hotel to be ushered towards the L'lncontro ballroom where we were allowed to enter the launch. Riyaad Moosa had already started entertaining fans with his pack of new jokes. Eventually Aari and I too were almost rolling on the floor laughing. A group of African dancers arrived on stage fully equipped with all the Indian moves to entertain the audience with a fusion mix of "Humma Humma" and "Shape of you".

DSTV spokesperson mentioned being super excited for not just the Indian community but also for South Africans at large to discover this content. She further said that she felt that there was a real need for people to have a little bit of escapism and things that create a beautiful world, so with Star Life we will be able to escape for a few hours during the day into the beautiful world of Bollywood. She is so right!

In every household or in every situation we tend to have to face those villains and those people who are two-faced- so when people tell you Indian series are over dramatic don't listen- they just provide various versions of the truth. Getting engrossed in the drama of some other family allows you to forget the drama occurring within your own family even if its just for a few minutes. We all need that form of escapism from our everyday lives and problems and the chance to realize that life will always give you lemons but sometimes it's just not possible to make lemonade so you may as well sit with the lemons as TV actors have way more problems than you do...

After entertainment and speeches, journalists and the press were allowed to ask questions. Most of the journalists seemed eager for the channel which will feature on our screens as of tomorrow  Monday 27th August. Star Life will be airing on DSTV channel 167, GOTV channel 23 and Open View channel 110. The channel features common Bollywood shows but they dubbed in English for a wider audience. I'm so excited as I get to watch reruns and share the Bollywood soapies that I loved with my hubby (bet his not thrilled about this). Some soapies featuring on Star Life that Star Plus fans will know of is Ishqbaaz, Koffee with Karan and Yeh Rista Kya Kehlata Hai.

The press were thereafter taken to the ballroom foyer where scrumptious goodies awaited them. Delectable finger foods were the order of the day along with the bubbles from sparkly drinks and champagne.

Each guest was given a Star Life Goody bag along with Caramel flavoured Maverick and Jane. (Yum)

Facing family drama of some sort or stuck with a monster in law instead of a mother in law escape with Star Life!!!!
