DESSERT FEST 2017

When my husband asked me to marry him, I think he didn't consider the fact that he was asking both Laila the normal school teacher as well as Laila the blogger to marry him. Needless to say he was stunned when the Dessert Fest invite arrived in my inbox and more shocked that I would be working for the blog on the weekend. He, however, (as a good husband would) readily obliged to escort me to the fest in hope of scoring some sweet delights to satisfy his dessert cravings.

Initially the Sally Mustang Venue (Sally Mustang is actually a tattoo studio) sounded less than ideal for a dessert festival but turned out to be an ideal venue for a fest of this caliber. The setting was simple yet detailed and every aspect of desserts and sweet meats were brought to the fore in the venue decor, decorations and center pieces (even the photo-booth had doughnut and ice cream props).

Dessert stalls were neatly arranged one next to each other spoiling the visitors with choice. Eyes and many people's tummy were tempted by coffee in a cone, Below Zero, Brown Sugar, Maverick and Jane to mention but a few. The dessert menu encompassed different types of desserts, some concepts even unheard of as well as Indian delicacies such as burfee craved by many. I particularly enjoyed the friendliness of the owners in the stalls who offered tasters and provided information on the desserts and delicacies they served. At Below Zero, the whole concept of Nitrogen ice cream was explained and their ice creams proved to be a chilly delight on that hot Sunday afternoon. It was enthralling to watch the frozen ice cream being made before our eyes as we waited patiently for a taste of the Ferrero flavoured ice cream.

From the cold that tickled my bones, I got back the heat from some freshly made churros. Churros (for those of you who are as clueless as my husband) is a Spanish and Portuguese originated specialty which is actually fried pastry dough in the form of an exciting looking, doughnut-like tasting treat. Maverick and Jane's incredible flavoured popcorn kept guests mouths busy as they strolled from stall to stall. The best stall for me was the Brown Sugar stall with their unicorn mini cakes in particular just because I love unicorns.

Vicky Crease had her masterpieces on display and boy is her talent clear...

All in all the event was truly the ideal taste experience for all those dessert fans and provided the best chance to hang out with friends and enjoy the sweeter things in life.
