Essence Blessings

With the news of one of my cousins having an allergic reaction to MAC products last Saturday, I got thinking, imagine if she had spent a fortune on her own MAC collection only to realize she couldn't use the products. Would that not have been a pitiful loss of a good few Rands on a good range of cosmetics that were no good for her? (Now don't get me wrong, MAC is an essential cosmetic range that suits my kit and my lifestyle despite anyone else's views,) but what if you could have the same luxurious finish with less the price? I never settle for anything less than the best and with my friends at work praising Essence left, right and centre, it's no lie that Essence is an affordable but special go to range for the every working-class lady. Now I wouldn't recommend this range if I did not try it  and love it myself.

For everyday usage, you cannot find any better than an essentials collection from Essence. Best news; Essence has stepped up their game and has launched oh so glorious products that can compete with 'Benefit', "SMASHBOX", "URBAN DECAY" , "NYX", and "MAC". Hence I decided to do this post to introduce you to my April Essence collection loves and show you the stark contrast in the price of Essence who has created similar products to their popular but tad too pricey competitors.

Be aware that Essence promises high quality, innovative products with a trendy and unique edge. Also for the animal lovers, Essence says a strict "NO" to animal testing.

Some of the April releases that are a must have includes:
I <3 colour intensifying eye-shadow base
The creamy texture in soft rose can be worn alone or as an eye-shadow primer, setting a base for more vibrant looking eye-shadow. It allows your eye shadow to be vibrant and crease free.
It retails for R47,95
-It reminds me of the NYX Eye Shadow Base in White Pearl which retails at R109.95

The Essence Velvets eye-shadows comes in nine vibrant colours that includes colours like nude, burgundy and grey.
The velvets retails at R38,95 and can be a replacement for your MAC velvety shadows which retails at R195.

The Forbidden Mascara range includes the Forbidden volume mascara which sells for R57.95 and the Forbidden Volume False Lash mascara topcoat which when used over a mascara as a top coat creates that false lashes effect leaving your lashes glue free but  still flirty as ever. The topcoat is priced at R53.95 and can be used as a replacement for the Benefit They're Real Mascara which sells for R 295 (Although I must confess I have not been able to give my lashes a break from my Benefit They're Real Mascara lately).

The Essence Face range additions are to die for:

Introducing Stay all day translucent fixing powder. Set your make up making sure to remain shine free with the perfect matte finish. I'm familiar with the MAC translucent powder but I don't see why you can't switch to the essence translucent alternative which costs 76,95 in comparison to the R 360 that you would pay for the MAC Prep + Prime Translucent powder.

A shape your face contouring palette!!!!! (No ways)...Essence certainly went all the way with a contouring palette that sells for R76.95. The palette includes a bronzer, highlighter as well as a blush for the perfect three step contour routine. Now you can affordably contour your cheek bones like Kimmy K and Kylie.

One product I went woohoo for was the "all I need concealer palette"... the palette is home to five different concealer shades to correct every skin problem. By mixing the pink and yellow you can reduce the dark purple bags under ones eyes and the discolouration on ones eyelids and the green concealer colour reduces redness from pores and pimples. The palette is R67, 50 and can compete with benefit Lemon aid which I purchased lately for R245. The lemon aid is a yellow, lemonish colour to be-rid your eyelids of darkness but for the lowest price of R70 you get five colour correcting shades.

There re-useable concealer and foundation sponges are only R 34,95. Heart shaped and wonderfully coloured to fit into those hard to reach areas under they eyes and in between the eyes and the nose bridge.

And tada, we have a keep it perfect! make up fixing spray. Now if you use make up fixing spray like water like me than this is so for you. Selling price: R 57.95 which is a bargain for daily use in comparison to the Smashbox water which sells at R 400 and the MAC FIX+ WHICH SELLS FOR R 250. Keep your Mac and Smashbox for special occasions and keep it perfect daily with essence. A handbag essential too:)

I bet you headed to your nearest Clicks to stock up. Make up at its cheapest and best :)
